Current Conditions:
Temperature: 3° F
Wind Chill: -14° F
Wind Direction: SW at 13 mph
Dew Point: -9° F
Barometric Pressure: 1022.3 mb

Today has been much the opposite from yesterday, with clear skies, cold temperatures and windy conditions. The skies started clearing up yesterday evening and have stayed all day and are expected to stay through the remainder of the day. We have a southwest wind, which I believe will bring in some warm air and have a positive impact on temperatures for Saturday.

I believe that we will have decent weather this weekend. With the southwest wind we have today, tomorrows temperature will most likely be higher than today. There is a high pressure system that is expected to move into the area on Sunday. Once it moves in, I would expect the skies to clear up, the temperature to be lower than Saturday, and winds being a little stronger.

Current Conditions:
Temperature: 20° F
Wind Chill: 6° F
Wind Direction: N at 16 mph
Dew Point: 13° F
Barometric Pressure: 1002.4 mb

This morning around 8 am in Eau Claire the snow started to fall, and it continued to fall heavily until about noon. It looks as if we received much more than the 1-3 inches that were originally predicted yesterday afternoon. We ended up getting about 6 inches of snow, and now that the skies have cleared up, that is probably all we will get for the day. We had a low pressure system moving across the area this morning, and that is what caused all the snow. Since that system has passed, the skies have cleared and the winds have shifted from the east to the north.

With the cold front moving across our area, there will be a high pressure system moving into our area from the north. That system will bring more cold air with it as it moves into our area.I believe that tomorrow we will see sunny skies, colder temperatures and wind coming from the north or northwest.

Current Conditions:
Temperature: 20° F
Wind Chill: 7° F
Wind Direction: S at 14 mph
Dew Point: 2° F
Barometric Pressure: 29.78 in (1010.6 mb)

We are finally seeing temperatures above 0 again here in Eau Claire, Wisconsin! There was a warm front that moved across the upper midwest throughout the day. We have also had southwesterly winds which have helped to bring some warmer air into the area. It may not stay for long though, since there is a low pressure system with a cold front that should arrive in our area around noon on Thursday. With that system we are predicted to receive 1-3 inches of snowfall.

With the low pressure moving in, I predict that tomorrow we will see cloudy skies with snowy conditions, temperatures similar to what we saw today as well as wind coming from the southwest again. Once the cold front passes, I believe the temperatures will slowly start to drop, the wind may shift directions and the skies will start to clear up.

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Current Conditions:
Temperature: -5° F
Wind Chill: -24° F
Wind Speed: W at 13 mph
Dew Point: -16° F
Barometric Pressure: 30.20 in

It's cold again today, but slightly warmer than yesterday! The skies have been mainly clear and are predicted to stay mainly clear into Wednesday. We have a steady wind out of the west and that is also predicted to stay consistent into Wednesday. There is a high pressure system that is over us right now which is causing clear skies and it also brought in the frigid air.

With this high pressure system over most of the midwest right now, I believe we will have conditions similar to what we are seeing today, continue into Wednesday. Since there will be a warm front moving into our area from the west, I believe we may start to see a bit of a warm up on Wednesday.

Monday, January 27, 2014

Current Conditions:
Temperature: -8° F
Wind Chill: -28° F
Wind Speed: W at 12 mph
Dew Point: -21° F
Barometric Pressure: 30.32 in

It has been bitterly cold all day with strong west winds making the cold conditions even worse. There has been mainly clear skies today and that is predicted to continue into Tuesday. With a high pressure system moving in, I believe that is part of the reason why we are seeing clear skies and extremely cold temperature.

With the onset of this high pressure system, I believe we will continue to see cold, if not colder, temperatures on Tuesday with wind speeds slowing as the day progresses and skies staying mostly sunny.

Sunday, January 26, 2014

Current Conditions:
Temperature: 12° F
Wind Chill: -5° F
Wind Speed: W at 17 mph
Dew Point: 2° F
Barometric Pressure: 29.36 in

We had more snow fall in the Eau Claire area starting late Saturday night and continued into the early morning hours of Sunday. There seems to be about 3-4 inches accumulated so far today, with the chances for more precipitation dropping significantly in the evening hours. So far today we have had cooler temperatures in the lower teens with steady winds out of the west. It has been overcast most of the day and there doesn't seem to be any sign of that changing throughout the remainder of the day.

As the day goes on, it is projected to get colder with the winds getting much stronger. The wind is expected to shift and come out of the northwest as the day progresses and continue into Monday with much of the same cold conditions.

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Current Conditions
Temperature: 6° F
Wind Chill: -13° F
Wind Speed: W at 18 mph
Dew Point: -12° F

So far, today has been much different than yesterday. We have clear skies with no cloud in sight, temperatures just above zero, sub zero wind chills and strong winds that are predicted to get stronger over the next couple of days. Last night we had a small amount of snow accumulation and we are projected to get another 1-2 inches this evening.

I believe that tomorrow the conditions will change again. There is a low pressure system along with a cold front that is supposed to move across the Eau Claire area tomorrow. I believe it will bring snow, strong winds and once the front passes, temperatures colder than what we are seeing today.

January 24th, 2014

Current Conditions
Temperature: 26° F
Wind Chill: 19° F
Wind Direction: SW at 6 mph
Dew Point: 19° F

As I was walking to class this morning, I was expecting to freeze like I have the rest of the week. Today was different though, since we had a breeze from the southwest. It brought some warmer air in for a change! Although it was overcast all day, it was nice to have a slight warm up!

This warm weather may not last for long, though.  I believe that we will be seeing very low temperatures and strong winds once again tomorrow after this cold front passes. There is high pressure that is supposed to follow, which is predicted to bring clear skies, strong northwest winds and very low wind chills once again!
